Exploring Salamanca, a small town in Chile

Hello all!! I am now in a city called Salamanca visiting friends. It is surrounded by mountains and at night, you can see every star in the sky. My friends laugh at me because I don´t want to sleep at night, because I love looking up at the sky. The young people here enjoy playing soccer and basketball. The town is very small, I can walk around the perimeter in a few hours. Every one knows eachother here - which is a big change from anonymous New York. Every one is very nice to me here and know me by name. I am going to be doing a lot of traveling this month, so won´t have as much time to blog. In terms of work, I will begin to officialy work with the women´s rights group in March and I will also be teaching English. I am so excited and having a fabulous time. I am always bragging about my amazing CSS students and sharing stories about my dear friends from the USA. Miss you all and love you lots.

In Chileeeee

Well, here I am in not so chilly Chile! I am having a wonderful time so far. I have been visiting old friends, as well as meeting many new ones. The people here are lovely and the temperature is very warm. I have been to the beach because I looked like the Ice Queen when I arrived (after being in snowy NYC). I met with the women´s rights group (with whom I plan on working with) and they are all so nice. It is interesting, the women´s rights group is very small. It seems as if many women here are not moved to stand up and fight for change. I hope that I can make a difference. I have also been interviewing for some English teacher jobs here. I have had some offers, but have not decided which one I will like to accept. Although I am having a very nice time. I miss my CSS students and staff very much. It is hard to be so far away from home and all the people whom I love most. At the same time, I understand that this is an important and necessary step in my life, and I am excited about this new adventure. I miss you all and am thinking of you always. I´ll wirte soon. xoxox -sam

Getting Ready to Hit the Snowy Road

Well my bags are - almost- packed and I´m ready to go....

I am almost ready to go (weather permit) from snow to sunshine. I will be heading north to Canada and then taking a flight straight south to Chile. I am excited and anxious for this next chapter. I look forward to mastering the blogging system and writing to you all soon. See you south of the equator!
